Product Description

1. A flange nut is a nut that has a wide flange at one end and can be used as an integral washer. This is used to distribute the pressure of the nut over the fixed part, thereby reducing the possibility of damage to the part and making it less likely to come loose due to the uneven fastening surface. Most of these nuts are hexagonal, made of hardened steel and usually coated with zinc.

2. n many cases, the flange is fixed and turns with the nut. Flanges may be serrated to provide locking action. Serrated at an Angle so that the nut does not rotate in the direction in which it was released. They cannot be used with gaskets or on scratched surfaces due to serrations. Serrations help to prevent vibration of the nut from moving the fastener, thus maintaining the holding force of the nut.

1. Flange nuts sometimes have swivel flanges to help create a more stable structure without affecting the finished product as serrated flange nuts do. Rotary flange nuts are mainly used to connect wood and plastics. Sometimes both sides of the nut are serrated, allowing locking on either side.

The self-aligning nut has a convex flange fitted with a concave disk washer to permit tightening of the nut on a surface not perpendicular to the nut.
